Day one of the FOMC is not the statement

Last updated:

Tuesday’s lending note is about the coupon we can name while the committee sits, not about inventing a vote. Monday already said the first weekday of FOMC week is not the statement. Mortgage News Daily’s Monday weekday index is now sourced: 7.17% as of September 14, up 0.05 from Friday’s 7.12%. The Federal Open Market Committee meets September 15–16. Today is day one. The statement is Wednesday. A Tuesday letter written during the session cannot lock it.

Different surveys. None of these is a lock. The 15-year and 10-year are the last figures named on this site.

What coupon can a meeting-day letter name, and what can it not lock?

Mortgage News Daily’s 30-year daily index was 7.17% as of September 14. The 15-year context from that same Monday print is 6.70%. Friday’s 7.12% print is now the prior weekday, not the last one. Freddie Mac’s weekly 30-year is still 6.76% as of September 10. The 15-year weekly is still 6.09%. None of those figures is a lock or a personal APR. This afternoon’s weekday index has not been sourced here.

Saturday already said a weekend letter cannot vote. Friday already said the last weekday before this week is not a lock. Today’s split is the calendar in the room: day one can name 7.17% as of September 14. It cannot name Wednesday’s statement, the dots, or the press conference. This desk has still not sourced a BLS CPI or PPI print. Weekly claims last cited here are 203,000. Invent none of those as this afternoon’s APR.

What should a Tuesday letter cite while the meeting is open?

Name 7.17% as of September 14 and say it is not a lock. Name 6.76% as of September 10 as the last weekly. If a newer official daily index publishes this afternoon, it gets its own dated note. Do not treat a chat-room fade, a leak from the first day, or a hoped-for cut as that print.

Use the payment calculator only as a shape. Add tax and insurance. The result is not an approval. This publication does not originate loans or take applications. A lock belongs with a licensed originator after a named coupon.

FAQ

Did this site cite a new official daily 30-year on the morning of September 15?

No Tuesday-afternoon index has been sourced. The last official daily 30-year cited here is now 7.17% as of September 14, 2026, from Mortgage News Daily’s weekday survey.

Can a Tuesday pre-qual lock the FOMC because the meeting started today?

No. The meeting is September 15–16, 2026. The statement this site has named is still Wednesday. A Tuesday letter cannot vote. Neither is a personal APR.
